How can I help you?

I am a consultant Gynaecologist at North Bristol NHS Trust and lead for both the fibroid and recurrent miscarriage service. I am also a recurrent miscarriage specialist and fertility consultant at the Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine where I see couples and individuals with both recurrent pregnancy loss as well as infertility.

With over 15 years experience in Gynaecology, specialising in reproductive surgery, fertility and pregnancy loss

I specialise in uterine preserving treatment. Whether growing your family is a priority or not, I believe that you should have choice, choice that includes alternatives to hysterectomy regardless of the underlying problem. I have spent many years developing skills and techniques, primarily to help those wanting to have children but also for those who simply don't want a hysterectomy or to lose the choice of fertility. I have expertise in a variety of treatment options for uterine fibroids including myomectomy and hysteroscopic removal. I also pioneered the use of radio frequency fibroid ablation in the region, having undertaken the largest number of this treatment type in the South West of England. I am frequently referred patients with adenomyosis, where I can utilise similar treatment principles and techniques to help manage this challenging condition

Uterine preserving options

Minimal access techniques

I have developed advanced techniques for performing truly minimal access surgery, promoting greater patient comfort, quicker recovery and minimal complications. I undertake fibroid and adenomyosis removal using conventional laparoscopy but am also an experienced robotic surgeon. I believe minimal access surgery should be exactly this, with no compromise. I am one of a handful of clinicians in the region routinely utilising power morcellation in my practice. This allows me to remove large specimens through the same small incisions that the surgery was undertaken through, negating the need to perform a larger incision which would ordinarily be the practice. This is better for your recovery as well as cosmetic appearance

Fertility optimising treatment

As the lead for the Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL) service at Southmead Hospital and RPL lead and fertility consultant at the Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine, I have committed to acquiring the necessary experience, knowledge and skills to offer my patients the full spectrum of treatment options. I believe that a truly bespoke approach is needed for those traversing the challenges of a pregnancy loss or fertility journey. This requires an in-depth understanding of your journey so far, as well as experience and expertise in providing all treatment options, whether medical or surgical. It is a privilege to be in a position to offer this level of holistic care, utilising truly fertility optimising surgical treatment options for conditions such as Ashermans syndrome, isthmocele (Caesarean scar niche), uterine septum, tubal disease, adenomyosis and fibroids, using a variety of contemporary approaches
